Born in 19/5/1979 in Rome, Fabrizio moved his first steps into music on classical guitar, studying with Antonio Di Spirito, Fernando Lepri and jazz guitar with Luca Chiaramonte. After passing the 5th year exam at the Conservatory of l' Aquila he decided to study saxophone, which soon became his main instrument. He studied with various teachers, such as Max Ionata, Mauro Negri, Roberto Mancini, Massimo D'Avola and joined many workshops with Maurizio Giammarco, Bob Mintzer, Rick Margitza, Steve Grossman, Harry Allen, Joe Lovano, Horacio el negro Hernandez, Pietro Tonolo , Scott Henderson and others. He attended the Umbria jazz workshop in 2004 : he won a scholarhip to Berklee College of music and joined the "italian award group '04". He performed with this band as the opening group for Cedar Walton at the Umbria Jazz winter festival.
He has collaborated with various big band arrangers: Marco Tiso ,Giancarlo Gazzani, Aldo Iosue, Roberto Mancini, Massimo Pirone, Roberto Coltellacci.
He performed with Maurizio Giammarco at Savoia theatre in Campobasso, and at the Eddie Lang jazz festival with legendary special guests: Buster Williams, George Cables and Jerry Weldon.
He graduated at the Nicola Sala Conservatory magna cum laude.
In 2012 he recorded "Mr.Johopper" (2012 Alfamusic) with Tiziano Ruggeri, Karim Blal, Martino Onorato, Giulio Scarpato ed AlessandroMarzi, his debut album for Alfa Music label. The record was awarded by the "Jazz it" magazine as one of the most interesting project of the year.
The next year he released "Crossthing", his second album as a band leader, featuring the international sax player Max Ionata, Enrico Bracco, Maurizio Perrone e Mario Lineri.
Emanuele Cisi wrote: "I appreciate the accuracy of his approach and his knowledge of the jazz tradition. Crossthing is an outstanding recording with fine compositions, excellent arrangements, a great rhtyhm section". In 2013 he performed at the Ecojazz festival in Reggio Calabria and held a workshop on saxophone and improvisation at the Mediterrenean University. He also played at the Ecojazz the nexy year with Alessandro Presti and Carmine Ioanna. He collaborated with the "Tiziano Ruggeri nonet", an ensemble of talented italian musicians, like Francesco Lento, Domenico Sanna, Carlo Conti, Giuseppe Ricciardo, Stefano and Andrea Nunzi. He performed with the Saint Louis big band at Eliseo theatre with Gegè Telesforo e Maria Pia de Vito. His last album Trisonic with Pietro Ciancaglini and Andrea Nunzi got the attention of Greg Osby, who wrote in the liner notes:"...Fabrizio has a very strong voice on baritone saxophone. The content of his playing complements his excellent compositions..."
Fabrizio has played at : Auditorium Parco della musica, Villa Celimontana, Umbria Jazz festival, Siena Jazz, Ronciglione Jazz festival, Monteroduni Jazz Festival, Tuscia in jazz, Eddie Lang jazz festival, Alexanderplatz, Casa del Jazz, Conservatori di musica “Lorenzo Perosi”, “Licinio Refice”, teatro Arciliuto, Foro Italico, Sala Baldini, Gregory’s jazz club , Cantina Bentivoglio, Charity jazz club, teatro Palladium, Munich Hi end festival.
